Trekking route: Almaty – Shymbulak resort – Left Talgar valley – Toguzak pass 4.220 m – Bogatyr glacier – South Issyk river – Korzhnevskiy glacier – Kokbulak pass 4.035 m and Kokbulak peak 4.555 m – Ryskulov valley – Akkol lake – Bozkol meadow – Kassin glacier – 40 years of VLKSM pass 3.960 m – Chon-Turgen plateau and moraine lakes – Turgen valley – 4 sphagnum lakes – Batan village – Almaty.

Climbing equipment will be used on the route!

The route passes through all the largest glaciers of the Trans-Ili Alatau range: Korzhenevskiy (11 km) and Bogatyr (9 km). The Korzhenevsky glacier was opened in 1903 by the russian researcher S. E. Dmitriev who passed here with the Kazakh expert of these places Turar Ryskulov from Issyk village. Dmitriev discovered most of the other glaciers of Almaty mountains in 1902-1910 years. Huge number of snow-white peaks will make you feel that you are in Antarctica. On the route we will climb one of the highest peaks in the Trans-Ili Alatau is the Kokbulak peak (4.555 m). It will be on the highest point of the Northern Tien Shan is the Talgar peak, 5017 m, and in the vast snowfields of the glacier Korzhenevskiy. The final part of the route passes through the largest moraine lake Akkol, and through amazing alpine plateau Chon-Turgen, reminiscent of Greenland, lying at altitudes of 3.600-4.000 m. It will amaze you with its colors.

Programme

Day 1. Transfer to the Medeu (30 min). Cableway. Medeu-Shymbulak-Talgarsky pass 3.165 m (1 h). Trekking. Left Talgar gorge – Red glade – Alpine Rose glade – Sun glade.

Distance 11 km; 6-7 hrs. Difference in height +450 m / -965 m (3.165-2.250-2.700 m).

Day 2. Tourists river – Hydrologist house – Toguzak Kingdom.

Distance 10,5 km; 7-8 hrs. Difference in height +1.000 m (2.700 m-3.650 m).

Day 3. Right Toguzak glacier – Toguzak pass – Right Bogatyr glacier – big moraine lake.

Distance 13,5 km; 8 hrs. Difference in height +600 m / -770 (3.650 m-4.220-3.430 m).

Day 4. Confluence of the rivers is South-Eastern Talgar and South Issyk – beginning of Korzhenevskiy glacier.

Distance 13 km; 6 hrs. Difference in height -640 m / +535 m (3.430-2.800-3.330 m).

Day 5. Korzheneskiy glacier – Paradise glade. Resting of one half day.

Distance 5 km; 4 hrs. Difference in height +450 m / -100 m (3.330-3.800 m).

Day 6. Pass 4.035 m – Kokbulak peak 4.555 m (radial) – pass – Ryskulov valley.

Distance 9 km; 6-7 hrs. Difference in height +800 m / -950 m (3.800-4.555-3.600 m).

Day 7. House of hydrologists – Akkol lake – Bozkol meadow.

Distance 6 km; 4 hrs. Difference in height +50 m / -800 m (3.600-2.800 m).

Day 8. Resting day / reserve day.

Day 9. Kassin glacier – 40 years of VLKSM pass 3.960 m – Chon-Turgen plateau and moraine lakes.

Distance 8,5 km; 7 hrs. Difference in height +1.110 m / -260 m (2.800-3.960-3.700 m).

Day 10. Chon-Turgen passes – 4 sphagnum lakes – Turgen valley – Temirtas river.

Distance 13 km; 6-7 hrs. Difference in height +300 m / -1100 m (3.700-3.550-3.650-2.700-2.850 m).

Day 11. Ojkaragay plateau – Kayrakskiy waterfall – Turgen valley (Batan village). Transfer to Almaty (2 hrs).

Distance 14 km; 5 hrs. Difference in height -1100 m / +100 m (2.850-1.750 m).
