The route passes through the Big Almaty gorge, which starts from the famous park of the first president. In the mountains, we climb a prepared jeep with an experienced driver on 4WD. Before we get to the beginning of the trail, we pass the barrier of the eco-post, where we stop to pay entry. After payment we pass among the cottages, following to our starting point.

Upon reaching the parking in the mountains, we unload all equipment and getting ready to go on the trail. If there is a need, we can conduct a small educational program for beginners and talk about freeride, terrain, avalanche danger.

Then we go in the direction of the plateau Kok-Zhailau (Heavenly Pasture is translated from Kazakh). After about 1 hour of ascent, we turn into the right gorge, where we rest and have a snack. Rest 20-30 minutes. And then we go further.

The ascent through this gorge is wild, you can very rarely meet people, so it is advisable to have a ski-tour outfit to go in deep snow. If you do not have ski-tour equipment, you can climb the ridge, which will increase the time of ascent by 1 hour. On average ascent takes 2-3 hours.

Reaching the Invisible (height 2600 meters), we have lunch and take photos. Around you can see the various peaks and the city (especially clearly visible TV tower Koktobe). Rest 30-50 minutes.

And the most cool – it’s descent. Untouched powder and good slope. A slope of 55% and a wide slope with rare spruces. In this place there is a unique opportunity to leave your signature in the form of a beautiful line.

Then we go to the path of Kok-Zhailau and go down to the car waiting for us below.

P.S. The route was explored by our team in the season 2015/16 . It is distinguished by a close approach to the beginning of the slope with absolutely untouched snow (1 h). Then the ascent on the skitour takes 2 hours, hiking – 3 hours. The highest point of the route is 2,600 m. The upper part represents a rather wide slope with rare fir-trees and the maximum gradient. In the middle part, the gorge narrows, followed by a wide field with a minimum slope. The final part of the descent is along the trail to Kok Zhailau.
