Jongar Alatau mountains is an excellent place for a multi-day trekking in Almaty region. Lakes are located at an altitude 1640 m (lower) and 2262 m (upper), of morain origin, steep banks, the water in the lakes is very cold. Those lakes from melted snow, was formed in nature long ago as a result of enormous glacier gathering and remains completely undamaged by the hand of man in beautiful, untouched environs.

Programme

Day 1. Transfer Almaty-Sarkand (5-6 hrs, 420 km). Lunch in cafe. Transfer to Jongar Alatau mountains: Lepsinsk village – Jalanash ranger house (5 hrs). Camping.

Day 2. Trekking. Karbushka river – lower Jasylkol lake.

Distance 14 km; 7-8 hrs. Difference in height +900 m / -300 m (1030-1265-1115-1680-1640 m).

Day 3. Trekking. Aktas plateau – water spring.

Distance 11 km; 8-9 hrs. Difference in height +1000 m / -100 m (1640-2510 m).

Day 4. Trekking. Sorokonojka pass – Agynykatty river.

Distance 10 km; 5-6 hrs. Difference in height +400 / -900 m (2510-2640-1920-2010 m).

Day 5. Hiking. Upper Jasylkol lake. Back to the camp.

Distance 9 km; 5-6 hrs. Difference in height +/-700 m (2010-2475-2280-2475-2010 m).

Day 6. Trekking. View point of upper lake – Tersairyk river – Upper pass – water spring.

Distance 13 km; 6-7 hrs. Difference in height +1100 m / -500 m (2010-2720-2460-2770-2620 m).

Day 7. Aktas plateau – Jalanash ranger house.

Distance 22 km; 8-9 hrs. Difference in height +150 m / +1750 (2620-1030 m).

Day 8. Transfer to Almaty (10-11 hrs). Lunch in cafe (Taldykorgan city).
