We are riding a prepared 4WD jeep with an experienced driver to the parking in Butakovsky gorge (1850 meters). Then we put on all our equipment and get ready to go on the trail. If necessary, we can conduct a small educational program for beginners and talk about freeride, terrain, avalanche danger.

We go up the gorge for 30-40 minutes. Then we turn into the left gorge, cross the river and continue along the trodden path (if there was no snowfall). Ski-tour equipment can be put on immediately, but be prepared to cross several small rivers. In another case, you can walk through the river and on a plateau near the “Forest” pass to put on skins.

Now we need to climb the steep pass “Forest” if you go on foot or turn right and go up to the ski-tour by traverse. On average from the pass “Forest” to Rock Hope 1-2 hours. Most of the route goes along the path among the coniferous forest.

After passing the field, we will go to the rock under the beautiful name “Rock of Hope”. This is our goal. From here there is a view of the peak Bukreeva. We stop at the lonely firs. Here we will eat, relax and take pictures. Rest 30-50 minutes. And we begin the descent on skis, snowboards.

The slope is 40-50%. First we will go on a non-steep flat field and later we turn to the forest zone and take a ride among the firs. The route is well suited for mid-level freeriders. Going down into the gorge and crossing small rivers, we will reach directly to the cars.

P.S. Rock of Hope is the rock, located in a branch of Butakovskiy gorge. Of course start of descent does not begin from the rock. It begins from the vast snowy field near the foothill. At the end of the season depth of snow in this place more than 1 meter. After a snowy field there is narrowing and a fairly steep slope. The last part of the descent goes along the path, gradually flatten out to the end.
