Route: Almaty – Turgen valley – Medvejiy waterfall – Kayrakskiy waterfall – Almaty
The Turgen valley is 60 kms of the Almaty city. The Turgen valley is the longest on the northern slope of the Trans-Ili Alatau range, it goes in the mountains for 44 kms. There is trout farm at the 9 km of gorge. On the 10 km road branches of the west and brings to a small cozy lake Zhasylkol. There is another restaurant complex at the 15 km, with the attributes of luxury hotels Stetson Rancho. After that we meet log bridge over the river Turgen. Excavations of Saka, Usun and Mongolian graves are held over the bridge on the mountain. The are Kayrakskiy, Medvejiy and Rocky waterfalls in the valley. The rock keep traces of the preglacial period, and the ground – the remains of a permafrost. One can see there the relic Chon-Turgen moss fir-wood, mighty and slender 50-meter Tien-Shan fur-trees that are 200-500-years old. They grow on a permafrost along the Chon-Turgen river in centures-old golden, half-meter thick moss, invaluable from the point of view of biologists and ecologists.
